The Ashes 2013 – Betting Offers, Tips and Free Bets
The Ashes cricket test series has so far been fascinating, with England dominant in the 2nd match, but the Aussies have given them something to think about in the other 2 matches and been very competitive.
4th Test Update – Thursday 8th August 2013
Well the 4th test starts tomorrow and this will be very interesting considering how events unfolded at Old Trafford. Everyone was talking about a 5-0 whitewash after the 2nd test, but Australia looked good at Old Trafford and could be very competitive here.
Fourth Test Betting – To win the match
England Evs (Various Bookies)
Australia 16/5 (Sportingbet and Stan James)
Draw 5/2 (Bet365)
The bookies are still making England heavy favourites and Australia big outsiders, but they looked very dangerous at Old Trafford. The draw could again spoil things though, with the UK predicted to have a spell of changeable weather over the next 5 days and some rain predicted for most days. We hate to recommend betting on the draw, but we think this could be the value here at 5/2 with Bet365.
4th Test – Top Australia Batsman
We think David Warner looked in good nick in the 3rd test and could come into some form now he’s had some batting practice after his earlier absence due to suspension. He represents some value at 11/2 to be Australia’s top batsman in the 4th test.
David Warner @ 11/2 (Ladbrokes)
Outright Betting – The Ashes Series Correct Score 2013
With England now having retained The Ashes due to the draw in manchester, there only remains correct score betting for the series, the odds are currently as follows:
3-0 to England 5/2 (Various)
4-0 to England 3/1 (Skybet)
3-1 to England 7/2 (various)
2-1 to England 6/1 (Various)
2-0 to England 10/1 (Various)
2-2 Draw 12/1 (Bet365 and Ladbrokes)
We fancy a draw in one of the remaining 2 matches due to the changeable weather and another England win, so we are going for England to win 3-0 at 5/2.

Here are our earlier outright tips from the start of the series:
The Ashes 2013 Betting Tips – Top England Batsman
With a few guys in rather indifferent form, we think that Jonathan Trott can keep on being his reliable self and come up with consistent runs throughout the series. Pieterson could also get a lot of runs if he stays fit, but we take the reliable Trott to be England’s top batsman at odds of 7/2.
Jonathan Trott, 2 pts @ 7/2 (Betfred, BetVictor and Totesport)
Top Australia Batsman
Australia’s batting lineup looks quite erratic right now, they’ve had a poor preparation for the tournament with some pretty poor showings in the warmup matches. Michael Clarke however, is the rock that Australia’s batting lineup is built on, he is a consistent scorer and has had some decent innnings in the warmup matches. We take him to be the top Australia batsman, as it’s difficult to see someone coming out of the pack to outscore him.
Michael Clarke, 3 pts @ 9/4 (Sportingbet)
Top England Bowler
Unsurpisingly, the favourite to be top England bowler is James Anderson, who could get off to a great start with Trent Bridge likely to suit him down to the ground. Currently best priced at 15/8, we think he’s worth a decent bet as the pitches and conditions are likely to suit his style. Also worthy of some attention is spin bowler Graeme Swann, who has been attracting some interest in the betting market and can be backed at 11/4.
James Anderson, 2 pts @ 15/8 (Paddy Power and Stan James)
