Glorious Goodwood 2013 – Betting Tips and Free Bet Offers
Tuesday 30th July marks the start of the famous ‘Glorious Goodwood’ horse racing festival, which lasts for 5 days finishing on Saturday 3rd August. Hopefully the recent spell of hot weather in the UK will continue and provide great conditions for some great flat horse racing.
We bring you our festival guide and will be providing some daily tips for you to follow, plus we pick out the best betting offers from the bookies for the Glorious Goodwood festival.
Glorious Goodwood Betting Tips
We will be providing daily tips for this year’s Glorious Goodwood races, keep checking back for updates.
A mixed bag on Friday in some very tricky races, at least the classy and reliable Montiridge obliged to give us a winner. The ground probably came up a bit firm for a couple of the others. Here we give our tips for the final day of racing at Glorious Goodwood.
GOING: GOOD (Good to firm in places; GoingStick 8.0)
2.05 – Stewards Sprint Handicap, 6f, CH4: Enrol @ 7/1 (Various Bookies)
Top weight Enrol is the tentative pick in this one, she had an indifferent showing at Ascot but the signs are positive that she can put that behind her and run well here. A very open race if we’re honest though, so watch the market for movers.
2.40 – RAC Stakes, 1m4f, CH4: Royal Skies @ 5/1 (BetVictor, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes)
Another strong looking lineup, we take Royal Skies from the in-form Mark Johnston yard with Joe Fanning on board. Very impressive earlier in the season until 2m proved too much at Ascot, can go well back at this trip.
3.15 – Nassau Stakes, 1m1f192y, CH4: Just The Judge @ 8/1 (Various Bookies)
We think 8/1 is a pretty decent price for this classy horse, she looks like she could do well at this trip – she has a lot of class and has the breeding for this distance. 3rd to Sky Lantern at Ascot, but she has a chance of turning that over. Obviously Sky lantern is still a favourite in this and was super unlucky in the last race, but probably worth taking on at a best priced 2/1 with BetVictor, at an unknown trip.
3.50 – Stewards Cup, 6f, CH4: Heaven’s Guest @ 12/1 (Various Bookies)
Take your pick in this one, in this ultra-competitive large-field race there are plenty of things that can go wrong, luck can seriously play a major part. Heaven’s Guest is the pick, he beat Moviesta last time out, who was an impressive winner here on Friday to frank the form, so we take our chances on him at a decent price of 12/1, get on each-way with Bet365/Betfred/Tote/Paddy/Skybet who go 5 places on this.
After a fantastic day on Thursday with 3 winners, we’ll be hoping for more on Friday!
GOING: GOOD (Good to soft in a few places; GoingStick 7.5) – Partly Cloudy
2.00 – Coutts Glorious Stakes, 1m4f, CH4: Sheikhzayedroad@ 8/1 (Various Bookies) Finished 3rd
Sheikhzayedroad makes a lot of appeal at a bigger price in what is a pretty hot race, this is a step up in class but he’s had some great form, looks very progressive and can get in the mix here.
2.35 – Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes, 1m, CH4: Montiridge @ 13/8 (Bet365) Finished 1st
Montiridge looks exactly the sort to do well in this race, he’s been in great form and looks to have the beating of this field here.
3.05 – Betfred Mile, 1m, CH4: Brendan Bracken @ 10/1 (Various Bookies) Finished 13/18
Thrashed his rivals in the Topaz mile at Galway on Tuesday and if he’s not taken too much out of himself he can be right in the mix here for a quick double.
3.40 – King George Stakes, 5f, CH4: Smoothtalkinrascal @ 7/1 (Various Bookies) Finished 16/17
In what is a very competitive and tricky 5f contest, we go for Smoothtalkinrascal, very impressive earlier in the season at York and Epsom, he has been waiting for the ground to have some cut in it, which should still be the case here although things are drying out a little there should be enough in the ground for him to give a decent account of himself.
GOING: GOOD TO SOFT (GoingStick 7.2) – Prediction of scattered showers
2.15 – Gordons Handicap Stakes: Noble Gift @ 14/1 (BetVictor, Bet365 and Paddy Power) – Finished 4th
Been running in lesser company than this, but has done everything asked of him and could be relatively unexposed. Worth an each-way punt in this open race.
2.45 – Richmond Stakes: Saayerr @ 6/1 (Various bookies) – Finished 1st
Had an impressive start to his career, winning first 2 races before coming up short last time out. All those runs were at 5f and he looks the sort who has needed to step up to 6f. Looks a decent horse and should give a good run at odds of 6/1.
3.15 – Goodwood Cup: Brown Panther @ 7/1 (Ladbrokes and Skybet) – Finished 1st
Very impressive return to form when winning at Pontefract in his first run this season on June 22nd, he will have been prepared for this race and looks like he can give this a real good go, proven class horse and they could have timed things right here. Some hot competition in this race, with Altano the German raider looking interesting though not getting any younger at aged 7.
3.45 – Lillie Langtry Stakes: Wild Coco @ 11/10 (Various Bookies) – Finished 1st
Wild Coco is the class horse in this race and has the form here as she won this race last year, the only doubt is a 300+ day absence from the track. We feel quite confident that she will be ready for this though and should justify favouritism.
GOING: GOOD TO SOFT (GoingStick 6.8) – Prediction of scattered showers
1.55 – Goodwood Stakes: Broxbourne @ 8/1 (Ladbrokes) – Finished 1st
Broxbourne can go well in the opening race, a marathon over 2m5f. Recent win at Ascot suggests she’s in tip top form, has come up a fair bit in the weights off the back of a very good season, but can still get right in the frame in this company.
2.30 – Gordon Stakes: Excess Knowledge @ 9/4 (Various Bookies) – Finished 2nd
A fair few of the field have various question marks regarding the trip, Excess knowledge looked like the sort who will relish this trip though in the recent Gala Stakes when staying on in 3rd, so we take the John Gosden-trained favourite to take this one.
3.05 – Sussex Stakes: Toronado @ 2/1 (Totesport and Betfred) – Finished 1st
Although Toronado has been beaten twice this season by Dawn Approach, we feel it might be third time lucky, he was hampered at Ascot but was still only beaten by a short head. It should be very close again, but if Ascot is anything to go by Toronado doesn’t have lots to make up to be in with a big chance.
3.40 – Vintage Stakes: Parbold @ 2/1 (Various Bookies) – Finished 3rd
Parbold looks the pick in this, with an impressive showing in the Group 2 Coventry stakes at Ascot under his belt, that is the class bit of form in this race and the cut in the ground is expected to suit. Outstrip could be interesting also at 11/2, an impressive maiden winner at Newmarket but this is a step up in class.
