Scotland v England International Friendly Betting Tips 18 Nov 2014
Scotland face England in an international friendly at Celtic Park on Tuesday 18th November 2014. Kick off is at 8pm and the match is live on ITV1 in the UK.
The rivalry between the two countries is intense, so this will be far more than a friendly for the fans and players involved. The countries met for a friendly last August at Wembley and the match finished 3-2 to England in a closely fought battle. This match will surely also be a tight affair, with both teams in good form coming into the match.
Scotland v England Outright Odds
England 11/10 (Paddy Power & Coral)
Draw 12/5 (Bet365)
Scotland 3/1 (William Hill)
England are the fairly short priced favourites for this game at 11/10 which is fairly surprising as Scotland have been in good form under Gordon Strachan and will also have the Celtic Park crowd roaring them on so the 3/1 for Scotland to win at William Hills looks a very decent price and could be good value.
England have won their first 4 qualifiers for Euro 2016 but have stuttered along in some games and Scotland will still feel in with a good chance. Scotland will be bouyed by the recent 1-0 victory over Republic of Ireland, also at Celtic Park.
I actually feel that this game could be a high scoring draw, with both teams having chances and potential for a 2-2 scoreline.
First Goalscorer Odds
Wayne Rooney is the favourite to score first at 9/2 and he has been in very good form during the qualifiers, bagging a few goals and generally lifting his game since being made captain. That said this game may be a chance for both teams to experiment a little, as although this game will be important with a lot of pride to play for, both managers may take the chance to try out some prospects in a competitive friendly.
Looking for value beyond the obvious candidates, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may start and looks decent value at 12/1 with Bet365. Stephen Naismith would appear to be Scotland’s best goal threat and is available at a fairly tasty 17/2.
Shaun Maloney has two goals in his last two Scotland games and is available at odds of 14/1 to score first with bet365. This is a really good price and is probably the best value out of the Scotland players.
Correct Score Odds
I actually really like the look of 2-2 draw for this game, the odds of which are 16/1 with Bet365 and William Hill, this looks like a good value bet in this tricky market.
Overall this game promises to be very competitive and whatever lineups both teams go with there will be a lot of pride and passion on show. I feel that the bookies have gone a little too strong on England’s chances at Celtic Park so the value generally seems to lie with the Scotland bets.
Shaun Maloney to score first @ 14/1 with Bet365
2-2 Correct Score @ 16/1 with Bet365
